Not much to tell.
The plain-language version of what we collect, what we don’t, and why. No legal padding.
What we collect
- Anonymous analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get used, and only after you say yes: the banner at the bottom of the page asks first, before any analytics cookie is set. Decline, or ignore it, and nothing gets set. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an automatic no and don’t ask at all.
- Your email, if you sign up. The newsletter signup in the footer stores the address you give it. That’s the only thing it’s for: sending that newsletter once it actually exists. We don’t sell or share it, and if you want off the list before it launches, just tell us.
- A hashed IP, if you flag something. The “Wrong match?” control on a product card records a salted hash of your IP address (not the address itself). It exists to count how many different people flagged the same problem and to stop one person from flagging the same thing over and over. It’s excluded from the lists we actually look at when fixing flagged matches.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, no passwords, no profiles to build up over time.
- No selling or sharing data with anyone, for any reason.
- No ad targeting, no ad pixels, no cross-site tracking. There isn’t even advertising to target.
Where your purchase actually happens
Every buy link leads to a real store: an artist’s own site, their label’s, or an independent record shop. Checkout happens there, under their privacy policy, not ours. We never see your order, your payment details, or your shipping address. Those links carry attribution parameters so Shopify can credit the referral back to us if you buy something; we don’t use them to track you afterward.
Where the rest of the data comes from
The knowledge graph itself (artist relationships, label rosters, review coverage, radio airplay) is built from Last.fm, MusicBrainz, Discogs, music press feeds, and public radio playlists. All of that data is about music: artists, labels, albums, airplay. None of it is about you.
Who’s behind it
LoudQuietLoud is a side project from Softlimit, an ecommerce agency. If you have a question about this policy, want your newsletter email removed before the newsletter even exists, or just spotted something that doesn’t add up here, email loudquietloud@softlimit.com.
